Continuing our AI & the Future of Work Roundtable Series, SODI and Monash University hosted the third roundtable on July 21, 2025. This interactive session brought together researchers, practitioners, technologists, and organizational leaders to explore the role of algorithmic tools in high-stakes decision making. Presentations from two leading researchers anchored a robust roundtable discussion focused on policy, equity, and organizational responsibility.

Research Talks

Marie-Pascale Grimon
Marie-Pascale is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Swedish Institute for Social Research (SOFI) at Stockholm University. Her research sits at the intersection of labor and health economics and applied econometrics, with a focus on human-centered AI for policy, family dynamics and child development, and the health impacts of employers.
She holds a PhD in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School. The paper she presented received the Outstanding Paper Prize from the European Economic Association’s Minority in Economics Committee and was also featured at the NeurIPS Human-Machine Workshop.

Emma Dean
Dr. Dean is a health economist whose research focuses largely on the pharmaceutical industry, with a particular interest in the factors that drive pharmaceutical utilization and brand choice. Additionally, she studies the relationship between poverty and health, with a particular focus on access to medicine for underserved populations. She earned a PhD in Managerial Science and Applied Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
